Holly Hill and Greenwood

Hello All!
Here is an update on the latest shows!

Holly Hill: Dressage was a great improvement for Aspen even though the score didn't reflect it! I'm very happy with how well she is coming along! XC was fantastic! Aspen has reached a new level of adjustability and has become a way easier and a lot more enjoyable ride on XC!

Greenwood: Dressage was another improvement! I'm lucky to have a smart horse that learns quickly! XC was really good all the way through the coffin where she jumped in nice but chipped into the ditch causing her to jump the one stride out awkwardly catching her stifle on the log. Coming into the water she felt a little off so I ended up retiring! Luckily Aspen jogged out fine and is as happy as ever!

Next weekend we have the David O'Connor clinic at Holly Hill then in the middle of June Red River Region's Eventing Rally on my sister's mare Walking on Sunshine a.k.a Libby! We have a very exciting summer a head of us!

I will keep y'all updated!
Adios!

Texas Rose

Random photo I really like....

Yay another horse trial has come annnnnnd gone!

It was a really good outing for the two of us! Aspen and I have been working hard on our dressage and even though the score didn't show it the test was nice for Aspen... There was no nervousness during the test which for her is really good! She jumped really well as always and handled everything wonderfully! I am so proud of her!

April 22-24 is Holly Hill which will be fun! I love Holly Hill and Tracy and Bobby Hewlett put on an awesome show making it one of my favorites! (and since it is home!)  I'm so excited to see what it has in store for us!

Oh yeah if anyone wants learn about a really cool person that is absolutely an amazing rider you should go like Rowdie Adam's page on Facebook! Here's the link so go like her page: Rowdie Adam's Eventing

Florida

Well. Florida was an AMAZING trip. Our showing wasn't at its best but over all it was a great experience!
I loved getting to train with Cathy and stay at Longwood (which by the way is the most BEAUTIFUL facility. If you ever get to go to Ocala go visit there. ) All the people were awesome and I learned a lot! I was glad to get to see Rowdie Adams again since I hadn't seen her in over a year! She is an awesome friend to have and basically took me all over Ocala! Lets just say we had tons of fun! Ocala is a beautiful place!

now to the shows:
Ocala 2... lets not even discuss it... she was very nervous that weekend and I'm not quite sure why. It was an interesting experience and I still managed to learn a lot...

Rocking Horse 2... It was better but still not great... She jumped fantastically but in dressage she was on edge... The horse rearing right next to me before I went in the ring didn't help a lot either... Lets just say now I have learned how to manage my mare in nerve racking situations. I gotta say it was awesome getting to have my best friends there! They helped a lot in keeping me relaxed! My mom couldn't be there cross country day due to my sister having a conflict back home since she is a Senior in HS. So they were a lot of help! (Thanks Spencer, Neal and Rowdie!)

Back to training at Longwood:
after Ocala Cathy did some work with Aspen on the Parelli rope which I think helped... She had me take a dressage and a jump lesson in the rope halter... It was rather fun! I've come to find Aspen jumps way better bitless... So we've found something new to try!

Im glad to be home so I can work on what I learned! Although I do miss Ocala... I'm hoping we kick some butt at Texas Rose! We are doing a jumper show over spring break to touch up our show jumping. Should be fun! I hope all goes well over the next couple of weeks so we can re-prove ourselves after a rough showing!
well! Until then
Farewell,

Winter News

It's been a while since I posted...oops. well anyways... We have had an awesome winter so far! All is going really well and I'm pretty much super duper happy about how much progress we have made! Regis Webb, my trainer, has helped a lot! I owe her a lot for all she's helped me with! The Buck Davidson Clinic back in December was AMAZING. Buck is one of my all time favorite people to clinic with now! Last weekend we went Texas Rose schooling and all went well! I'm so excited for the show season to start up again! We are leaving for Ocala, Florida in about 10 days! We are staying at Longwood and training with Cathy Wieschhoff! SO EXCITED! We are doing Ocala Horse Properties 2 and Rocking Horse 2! Can't wait! I'm hoping all goes well and we get our last qualifying Prelims in! I know this post is ridiculously random... I'm just trying to put everything in one post!
I'll try to post again when we get to Florida.
Laterrr,
Vic

Texas Rose

SO.
Aspie and I managed a pretty good show. We accomplished all of our goals we made after Holly Hill and managed to pull off 5th! Love my horse! We were one of two pairs out of Open Prelim A to make time! Texas Rose's new course is really challenging and I like it a lot! it was obviously hard to make time with the technical combinations and lines! I'm so proud of how Aspen managed to handle the course! She was great in show jumping which seemed to be a rough spot for us. I think show jumping rally helped us over come some of our challenges! Our dressage improved! I think after the Cathy Weischhoff clinic when I had her chiropractic she started feeling better and is a lot more cooperative and easy to get forward in the sitting trot! Im happy with our results and we are going to keep working hard over the winter so we can be rollin like its hot in the winter/spring event season! So excited! We have all of Dec and Jan off from showing and really traveling except for the Buck Davidson clinic and a few out of town lessons every now and then. I will keep posted on progress over the winter.
Peace and Blessings,
Happy Holidays!

Holly Hill HT

Okie Dokie!
So this weekend at Holly Hill we ran our first qualifying prelim! SO proud of how my horse put on her big girl pants and acted like a rockstar. Dressage was..... Anyways Aspen jumped amazingly and basically YAY we got our qualifying ride in! XC was the best part. She was AMAZING! We ended in 10th out of 15 so Im pretty pleased. Especially because I expected way less then Aspen gave me!

So now for Texas Rose our goal is:
a) WAY better dressage
b) double clear stadium
c) double clear XC
d) get closer to the ribbons, if not in them!

Pretty reasonable eh? Im basically only raising the bar a little bit for this last show just because it'll only be her second prelim. But hey now I have higher expectations of her ability! Our Pony Club showjump rally is in 2 weeks so basically thats where I want to perfect our showjumping. On the other hand I'll pretty much be ridding dressage everyday except for my one gallop, and one jump day. so about 4 to 5 times a week. Im planning on nailing it.

In the spring I want to be rollin'  like its hot! My expectations for the spring will be even higher! I'm hoping she will be perfect at Texas Rose. Fingers crossed!
